Security Tip | Home Security

YardsignThe depressing fact is, it’s not that hard to get into most homes.

Every 15 seconds, a burglar breaks into a home in the United States, steals an average $1,725 worth of property and robs the people who live there of peace of mind for years.

Installing an alarm system is easy and provides peace of mind. If something does happen, help will be on the way. Prominently displaying a yard sign with the alarm company’s name on it outside the house provides additional benefits. When people keep it hidden so as not to disturb landscape aesthetics, would-be thieves don’t know the home is any less desirable than the house next door, and the alarm is only an after-the-fact security measure.

The lesson, alarms are most effective when they’re most obvious.

ID Capture Camera for Surveillance Systems

ID cam picIf you have a business that is susceptible to liability due to a customers age or use of a fraudulent ID, we have a new product that may help.

For bars, restaurants that serve alcohol, and stores that sell tobacco products, checking identification is commonplace. Sometimes its tough to determine if the identification is really the person in front of you.

There may also be an event where evidence is needed that an employee actually checked the identification of a person. With an ID capture camera you can record an image of the ID used by the person during the check or transaction.

This evidence can be enhanced by installing an additional camera in the area of the exchange between your employee and the person presenting the identification.

We offer several models of the ID Capture Camera and a full line of Surveillance Systems for home or business solutions.

Trident Seafood Project

Custom design and fabrication

The Trident Seafood Security Project is going very well. The wiring has been completed and we completing installation of the hardware on the access and surveillance systems. We recently powered up and programmed part of the access control system and have the badge design, creation, and printing underway. Things are really taking shape and everyone is excited as we near completion of the systems.

We  recently installed a custom designed and fabricated access turnstile. This will regulate employees as they enter production of the facility. Knowing who is in the facility at all times is critical to the integrity of the food product and the safety of the employees.

The access system is by Keri Access and is custom built with Mercury firmware and software to allow for the custom programmable features required for this installation. Since there are a variety of door types throughout the facility, all of the locking hardware required custom installation. There is nothing cookie cutter about this project.

Many of the interior and exterior cameras are installed and running. The image views are amazing on the new equipment by Nuvico. We will be installing the advanced view cameras throughout the production areas over the next week.

Brainerd Jaycees Park Surveillance Installation

Brainerd Jaycees Park

Midwest Security & Fire recently worked with Brainerd Parks & Recreation to install surveillance cameras at Jaycees Park in Brainerd.

The park had experienced vandalism in recent months to the buildings, skate park, and parking lot. The costs of cleanup and fears of future damages had city officials considering several alternatives including closure.

Midwest Security & Fire met with Brainerd Parks & Recreation Staff to discuss current security and surveillance options, demonstrated products, and provided a detailed estimate for materials and labor installation.

Since Midwest Security & Fire proudly supports the community and organizations working with children, youth, and families, we  provided a generous discount on materials and labor for the project. Installation has been completed and it has been reported that no damage or vandalism has occurred since the system was installed.

Low Temperature and Freeze Up alarms for Residential Home Security Systems

Adjustable Low Temperature Sensor

I just went out to get todays mail and was reminded that winter and cold temperatures are here again. It has been a mild winter so far with little snow and less than average temperatures but that won’t last long. Extreme cold temperature and snow will be here soon enough.

Since many of our customers are second home owners, seasonal residents, or homeowners who may be on vacation during cold periods, we offer low temperature or freeze sensors in their homes. The sensors detect a temperature condition and the alarm system communicates that information with our monitoring center. Our operators notify the homeowner or responsible parties to the condition. POur systems aslo have the ability to adjust temperatures as an option.

Every year we have several of these sensors that activate and we find that the heating system is not working to heat the home. While there are many reasons for this occuring, notification and response to the event is critcal to preventing damages in the home. I have seen homes destroyed by furnace failure and the resulting damages caused by frozen pipes and water damage.

To have this feature installed or added to your existing system, just give us a call at 218-825-8844 or send us an email at info@midwestsecurityandfire.com  . You may find more information about Midwest Security & Fire and our products we install at www.midwestsecurityandfire.com
