Security Systems for the Self Storage Industry from Midwest Security & Fire

DigiGuard Wireless Door Sensor Replacement Battery

Midwest Security & Fire installs and services security and access systems for the Self Storage industry throughout Minnesota. One of the system manufacturers we have worked with is Digitech. Digitech has and continues to go through many changes in the products and organization if the business.

Several years back Digitech came out with a new product featuring wireless door alarms for the units doors in a self storage facility. This system was designed to install or retrofit an existing facility to have individual door alarms for each storage unit and sound an alarm should a unit be broken into when occupied by a tenant. The company that manufactured the wireless transmitters and accessories for that product went out of business and therefore Digitech was no longer able to support the product. This was a pretty bad deal for the facility owners who purchased the products for their facilities some of which had 500 or more door alarms.

Midwest Security & Fire provides service and maintenance for one of these facilities using the Digitech DigiGuard wireless door transmitters sensors and in an effort to provide support for the facility has been able to source spare parts and accessories until recently. The company that was providing the replacement battery assembly pack no longer makes that part. After many exhaustive hours of searching and research Midwest was able to locate the parts necessary to build a replacement battery assembly pack for the existing transmitters. This has allowed us to continue supporting the existing door alarm system for many more years and save the facility owner a costly total system replacement.

If you are looking for the Digitech DigiGuard replacement battery assembly pack contact us at 218-825-8844 or info@midwestsecurityandfire.com for more information. We will provide a quotation for your quantity desired.

Low Temperature and Freeze Up alarms for Residential Home Security Systems

Adjustable Low Temperature Sensor

I just went out to get todays mail and was reminded that winter and cold temperatures are here again. It has been a mild winter so far with little snow and less than average temperatures but that won’t last long. Extreme cold temperature and snow will be here soon enough.

Since many of our customers are second home owners, seasonal residents, or homeowners who may be on vacation during cold periods, we offer low temperature or freeze sensors in their homes. The sensors detect a temperature condition and the alarm system communicates that information with our monitoring center. Our operators notify the homeowner or responsible parties to the condition. POur systems aslo have the ability to adjust temperatures as an option.

Every year we have several of these sensors that activate and we find that the heating system is not working to heat the home. While there are many reasons for this occuring, notification and response to the event is critcal to preventing damages in the home. I have seen homes destroyed by furnace failure and the resulting damages caused by frozen pipes and water damage.

To have this feature installed or added to your existing system, just give us a call at 218-825-8844 or send us an email at info@midwestsecurityandfire.com  . You may find more information about Midwest Security & Fire and our products we install at www.midwestsecurityandfire.com

Crime Never Takes A Vacation

Security & Surveillance Brainerd Lakes MN Alarm Systems

Our economy has spurred a  increase in burglaries and home invasions across the country, with agencies reporting an increase in 2010 after falling for a number of years. What is especially troubling is that these crimes have increased in the suburbs and small towns – places where it rarely happened before.

Three keys to making sure that your home is secure. The first is simple: Use some common sense. Don’t post vacation plans on Facebook and don’t post vacation photos while still on vacation. Many burglaries are committed by someone you know or by someone connected to someone you know. Letting the world know that you’re not home is an easy way to become a target.

The second key is to make your home a less attractive target than your neighbor’s home. Sounds crazy, but if you and your neighbor are being chased by a dog, you don’t need to be faster than the dog, just your neighbor. Make your home a less attractive target and thieves will go somewhere else. Steps to making your home less attractive to burglars include cutting shrubs and properly lighting the inside and outside of your home.

The third key is to secure the exterior of your home.  . It is estimated that  85 percent of all break-ins are through a door. Secure your doors and you greatly increase your likelihood of success against a burglar. Alarms are a great addition to your home’s security. Security does not need to cost a lot, it just needs to work. Anyone that tells you otherwise is taking you for a ride. With a little common sense and a little effort you can effectively secure your home.

Free Home Security System!

Free Security System Brainerd Nisswa Crosslake Park Rapids

You know the saying “If It Sounds To Good To Be True, It Probably Is” or “Nothing in Life Is For Free”? Well they are both  true, and there is no such thing as a free security system either. No one is going to give you a Free Security System like the advertisments lead you to believe.

I am looking through my mail today and on the back page of an advertising package full of coupons and advertising is an offer from one of the national security companies for a FREE Home Security System! NO COST to you for parts and activation with ONLY a $99..00 Customer  Installation Charge  and the purchase of alarm monitoring services subject to terms and conditions below.

Here is what you get from the National Security Companies or Mass Market Merchandisers- Front and Back Doors, Infared Motion sensor, Digital Keypad, Siren, Lawn Sign and Decals. In the fine print it states that you agree to a 36 month monitoring agreement at $35.99 per month by credit card or electronically from your savings or checking account. You will pay $1,295.00 plus the $99.00 installation charge for a total of $1,394.00. You own the system? Remember, you agreed to purchase monitoring services and pay an installation charge, you are not purchasing a security system? Who has only  two doors in thier house? Where are theses guys from and what happens when we need some service? Are they reputable companies, what kind of work do they do, what is the warranty, are they licensed, do they have insurance?  These are all great questions. We do not reccomend anyone buy a system from a national or mass merchandising security company. The risk is to high to gamble when you are dealing with the security of your family, home or business.

Our family has been installing security systems throughout Minnesota for over 33 years. We are a trusted name in Security and provide Products from Leading Manufacturers in the industry. We support the communities we serve. Our prices are very affordable and we state our terms in bold print. Check out our specials  or Featured Products at www.midwestsecurityandfire.com. Digital, IP, and Megapixel Surveillance Systems and Cameras

Outdoor pan, tilt, and zoom camera

Scrap metal is a hot commodity these days. With commodities markets drawing investment from those who still lack confidence in Wall Street, metal prices are soaring, which means incidents of metal theft are, too.

The Department of Energy estimated in 2009 that theft of copper wire – from power lines or abandoned homes and businesses – costs the public $1 billion annually, and in Britain, thieves are even swiping sections of railroad track so they can pocket the profits. About 30 states have made efforts to stiffen their penalties against the practice in the past several years.

Midwest Security & Fire provides quality surveillance camera systems available that can help deter and capture theft at your home or business. We offer a variety of surveillance systems to fit your needs and budget. Our surveillance systems capture quality video and may be viewed on the premise or remotely over the internet using your computer or smartphone. Give us a call today for a demonstration and security review. We will prepare a detailed no obligation proposal for indoor or outdoor cameras, IP cameras, digital recorders (DVR), megapixel cameras, or high definition cameras for your home or business.
